East End Trades Guild and Guardians of the Arches members are invited to celebrate the publication of Eleanor Crow’s SHOPFRONTS OF LONDON.

Thursday 26th September, 7pm at E5 Bakehouse, 395 Mentmore Terrace, London E8 3PH. Free to members, book your place here.

SHOPFRONTS OF LONDON is a collection of Eleanor Crow’s beautiful watercolours of classic shopfronts to be published by Spitalfields Life Books on 5th September. The book champions the enduring culture of Britain’s small neighbourhood shops and includes some of our very own members!

As our high streets decline into generic monotony, we cherish these independent shops and family businesses that enrich the city with their characterful frontages and distinctive typography.

This volume includes more than 100 illustrations, accompanied with the story of the shop, its history and its shopkeepers. As well as beloved old and lost shopfronts, there are some recent examples of new shops that have been beautifully designed too – from cheesemongers to chippies.

At a time of momentous change in the high street, Eleanor Crow’s witty and fascinating personal survey champions the enduring culture of Britain’s small shops.

SHOPFRONTS OF LONDON will be available purchase at this event and we will be collecting the details of those members who would like to be stockists. Both buying and stocking this publication comes with a generous members only discount!

Come and enjoy fellowship, food from the Bakehouse and drinks provided by our members.
