This year’s map is a collaboration with THE GENTLE AUTHOR,  illustrated by Eleanor Crow and designed by Friederike Huber. Eleanor’s new book SHOPFRONTS OF LONDON published by Spitalfields Life and Batsford Books includes our own members Gardners’ Bags, E5 BakehouseE. Pellicci and G Kelly.

“It has been wonderful to learn about more of the small businesses and independent shops and services in East London whilst working on the map. It’s a valuable resource and a great way of bringing these vibrant businesses together. We should support them all.” Eleanor Crow.

All our members will be distributing copies of East End Independents to their first 100 customers this Saturday, we’ll also be handing out these beauties from our Christmas Market at Old Spitalfields where you can buy Eleanor’s beautiful book at Other Books from 11 to 5.

Our founder the Paper Bag Baron of Spitalfields – Paul Gardner of legendary Gardners’ Bags will be launching the map  at 11am. At 1pm there will be a special live performance by the incredible singers of Gospel Touch Choir! Roll up! Roll up!

Now in its fourth year, our map is the ideal companion for anyone looking to shop, eat, spend and play independent. Categories include Shops, Markets, Things to See & Do and Services & Suppliers. Back the neighbourhood this Christmas and always!

“In these testing times, we must support the independent shops and small businesses which contribute so much to the East End by creating employment for local people and building communities.” THE GENTLE AUTHOR.
