Having just completed our Crowfunder for this exciting role we’re now seeking the best possible candidate to support our work with members in Hackney and Tower Hamlets.
We are looking for a talented Community Organiser with the passion to drive forward the priorities we have uncovered from members to support recovery in East London. To improve on our commitment to equality, inclusivity, and diversity we welcome applications from individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.
This is a full-time role at 30k pro-rata for 6 months with a possible extension subject to funding. Initially working both from home and safely in the neighbourhood.
Since 2012 the Guild has run three successive listening campaigns to find the common interests of the members. Each time, rent has been identified as the most common theme. During the pandemic the following priorities were identified;
- Rent; Collaboration on our Commercial Rent Manifesto with the New Economics Foundation both at local government and national level. Building power and efficacy of the organisation to bring our Manifesto to life.
- Community Wealth & Rebuilding the Local Economy; through local procurement and enhancing the visibility of members and the importance of local spend – via member to member connectivity and with local stakeholders such as councils, the GLA & Citizens UK and by adapting to the new landscape at this decisive moment in history we can build back better for a sustainable future.
- Organisational Development; via leadership development – growing the Guild through anti-racist and anti-oppression structures so that we are truly intersectional and democratic.
By bringing diverse Small and Micro Businesses together in our neighbourhoods we can build back better for the common good. To find out how to apply and see the full job specification read this document.
